VOTE NOW – Action Plan needs your input

Cowdenbeath’s local residents are being encouraged to grab the opportunity to vote on a number of proposed improvements and potential community projects.

More than 15 projects and ideas have been selected as realistically achievable within the next five years, the result of a community research exercise in 2023. The group also held in-person public meetings in September at the Maxwell Centre to hear from the local community.

The ideas are presented over 4 main themes:

  • Parks, Green Spaces & Leisure
  • Neighbourhoods
  • Culture & People
  • Town Centre

Proposals include the installation of noticeboards at points around the town, a monthly outdoor community market at the Green Square, extra bollards and barriers on the High Street to prevent pavement parking, and investment in the Public Park to make it safer and more attractive.

Vicky Kinloch, a director at My Cowdenbeath said: “This is the final part of the research we’ve been conducting over the past year, all the surveys and public drop-in sessions have led to the creation of the Action Plan, as well as the Local Place Plan earlier in the year. The views from local people are really vital and it’s also important this plan has realistic goals for the area – we know funding is getting tighter and investment in places like Cowdenbeath has been really limited over many years, so we dont want to promise things we dont think are achievable. We think the ideas put to the vote are things that, working together with the community council and other local groups, we can achieve together in the next 5 years.”
